Saw this link on digg, so I thought it would be interesting to put up.
I still consider video games and movies to be two completely different experiences. One is passive, and one is interactive. Movies like The Descent draw you in, but it’s not the same as a game like Silent Hill. My actions don’t affect the outcome of the movie, but they do affect the outcome of the game. When you look at all of the current horror movies (saw, hostel, the hills have eyes), they are more about torture than anything else; something that is not in any horror games that I know of. I just don’t think video games are affecting the horror genre that much.
